Spa Party
I am amazed at how quickly my youngest daughter, Summer, has become a young lady...liking all things that make her feel more grown up. Her friend...and neighbor...Jenna had a Spa Party for her 8th birthday. It was an event that I would have enjoyed myself!! They soaked their feet and hands, had manicures and even facials. Jenna's mom, Jennifer, fixed 'spa foods' - such as fruit skewers and wrap sandwiches - even the cake had a 'spa-like' feel thanks to the beautiful fresh fruit on the top. It was priceless to see these girls light up when they were pampered. But why should I be surprised!?! Doesn't a spa day do the same for me!!
Now That's Just Silly....String (?)
OK - so you have to know my mom's playful side to get these pictures. My mom has always been able to lay out the rules and boundaries...but she could always balance it with fun and laughter. She was the mom that had fake puke, fake poop, and a conehead to wear (remember them from SNL?)....and knew just when and where to place them to get the most horrified response. It brings a smile to my face now...not always the case as a teenager. ha!
This year, despite my mom being very sick around the holidays, she went to the Dollar Store and STOCKED UP on Silly String. She was determined to have a silly string fight with her kids and grandkids . It may not have lasted but a few minutes -- but more laughs and joyful screams were uttered in those few minutes than probably the whole day (...and it was a fun day). I think these pictures captured a glimpse into that fun!!

Blogging Update....
Wow!! So much happens in such a short period of time...and then the pictures, etc. add up and quickly I'm overwhelmed...much like in my scrapbooks. I would like to add that I HAVE done a little scrapbooking the past few weeks...and I'm FINALLY to my cousin's wedding. Of course, that was in October....2004....but how fun it will be to design layouts for that BEAUTIFUL 'event.' I have never been to wedding more beautiful...nor probably ever will be to another one quite so nice...so it is fun to relive that moment over and over again w/the pictures. If any of you have 'dabbled' w/the idea of scrapbooking - I highly recomment it!! It isn't something that you have to do all the time...it obviously isn't something that you have to stay caught up w/ - just look how FAR behind I am...ha! But I like to think that it makes me a better mom emotionally - much like Starbucks. hee! hee!
Anyways...stay tuned for pics to follow...I was able to change my blog background today...that was a new and surprisingly 'easy' experience...not sure that I will keep it like this...but it was the first one that caught my eye. I didn't see spending alot of time picking out the 'perfect' background when I wasn't even sure I would be able to make it work. ya know!?!

Wii!!
Well, I have broken ALL kinds of "rules" with this post...but they are MY rules to break. Rule #1 - never post things out of order...well, once I post this I will have jumped forward and backward and now I have left myself chronologically CONFUSED!
I wanted to show a few pictures of the girls from Christmas...when we first got the Wii. That had to be the all time GREATEST gift that Santa could have brought....and it kept us busy virtually ALL of Christmas break! We didn't spend very much time in the great outdoors (a shame too, because is was BEAUTIFUL here!)...we spent many hours on the Wii.
We were trying to defeat Bowser (sp?) on Super Mario Galaxy, trying to learn all the dances for High School Musical 3 Dance, learning how many different types of instruments are played on Wii Music, sinking battleships, playing Sorry, bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing, or MY FAVORITE...learning how to 'play' electric guitar w/Guitar Hero. I'll have all of you know that I can 'ace' the songs on medium level now...my next step MUST be as a professional axe for some GREAT band. :-)...or maybe just learning how to play a REAL guitar. ha!
I would probably be horrified to know the number of hours we actually spent on the Wii during Christmas Break, but I am glad to report that we have been able to wean ourselves from it slowly.
Honestly, considering it was our first video gaming system...I think we did pretty
good.
