On Wednesday we traveled to Pflugerville... also known as Flamingo-ville to Summer...a reference to her Mime's LOOOVE of pink flamingos (backyard...not front...for all of you that were momentarily horrified! ha!). We visited with Mime (and Granddad, Adam, and Gracie when they got home from work/school) and were fortunate to have a gorgeous day to play outside with roller skates, scooters and tricycle.
On Thursday we ventured over to Sea World San Antonio...along with MOST of San Antonio and the surrounding area. We knew it was going to be crowded when the exit off the highway was backed up for 1 1/2 miles!! It was worth the wait...we did some of the things that we weren't able to do when we went there in the fall. Summer was just tall enough (48 inches) to ride the Steel Eel roller coaster - and to celebrate she and Kyla rode in the VERY front car. Kyle confessed that for a second he was very nervous just sitting behind them - wondering what in the world he would do if one of them accidentally came out of their seats. It is a logical concern because one o
f the things the park brags on about this roller coaster is the feeling of weightlessness (negative Gs) that this ride has! The girls also fed the dolphins - we weren't going to be able to leave without accomplishing that! Instead of seeing shows they opted to ride the rides...but that meant lines that were 1 1/2- 2 hours long. Luke and I saw shows and went in the exhibits during those times! On Friday we went to a San Antonio Spurs basketball game and were able to see them beat the Sacramento Kings - 102 to 89. It was great!! I have never been much of a professional sports fan, but being at the game gives you a whole new appreciation for the team. There was ALWAYS something going on - never a dull moment. Even Luke was fascinated by the action - he REALLY wanted the basketball!!
Saturday we celebrated Easter with Kyle's family in Adkins (just outside of San Antonio) at his parent's house. Unfortunately for y'all I took all of my photos with my 35mm and so I don't have any to post. We hunted Easter eggs in the pasture, ate hot dogs and hamburgers, and even celebrated with 3 dozen confetti eggs! It was nice to spend time with family - Easter is a holiday that I don't think we came home for in all of the years that we lived in Alabama. However, it didn't escape my thinking that our friends in Alabama were hunting eggs at Friendship and eating a yummy meal at the Hughes' house this afternoon. As a matter of fact, at church this a.m. Kyle leaned over and whispered - "I sure am craving ham!"
Too bad we can't be at 2 places at one time!!! If it were possible you can bet I would find a way!
