Easter Sunday

Of course, I know that Easter is soooo much more than egg hunts, Easter baskets filled by the Easter bunny, and matching outfits for the kids, but I seem to take LOADS of pictures of the egg hunts, Easter baskets, and matching kids. Kyle and I both emphasize to the kids the real reason that we celebrate Easter Sunday, however, I do worry that in the celebration of all things that we have come to know as Easter...that we are missing the point. I can only hope and pray that our discussions of Jesus's resurrection and His victory over all of our sin have really sunk in.

That said, I will now discuss the choice of black and white for the kids (and my) Easter 'outfits.' I had a hard time committing to black and white. White doesn't seem unusual for Easter - I can recall one Easter in particular when my girls wore white smocked dresses....how I miss seeing them in smocked dresses! But black doesn't exactly fit my idea of Easter...however, it did fit my budget. :) I had purchased the shrugs that the girls are wearing for Megan's wedding and it just made sense to try and stretch the purchase by pairing it with another outfit. Of course, at Children's Place I can still find something for all three kids to wear in the same color scheme and the next thing you know...it was black and white. I felt like it was so unusual that I even called my mom from the Forum parking lot...just for a little reassurance before I made my way home.

It wasn't until the Friday before Easter that I decided to try and make my outfit match the kids as well - that sweater... I found it at Sam's Club of all places! Unfortunately, I didn't look for anything for Kyle to wear...I thought he could wear a white button down shirt...but he had more colorful clothes in mind. He did first come out in his Upward referee jersey....black and white vertical stripes. It was priceless!! Too bad I didn't get a picture of him and the kids while he was wearing it!
